Episode Transcription

Have you ever wondered how people feel when you’re running late? Stick arrownd and I’ll give you the hard truth. _________________________________

This particular episode might feel a little harsh, maybe even insulting to some, but vindicating for others.

Because it’s all about being late. (Start music Bed)

Being late is a very narcissistic trait. It shows complete disrespect for the people who are waiting for, you and are probably on time.

I thought for a moment if I should have your five minute Monday surrounding your being late. But chances are, many of you listening

to this right now are probably running late as we speak.

Now before you turn this episode off,
I recommend you wait, and listen, Because in the, it will make you money.

And I know what you’re thinking, but sometimes the truth hurts.

Let me be the one to tell you how things should be, rather than your client as he’s firing you.

It may be a part of your culture,
it may be a part of how you run your life. But in real estate, it’s extremely rude.

People have schedules and appointments. You cannot show such disrespect for the people who are attempting to do business with you.

For a seller, it shows them that you are not responsible or reliable and that you are probably not the person to do business with.

Forget the old cliché “the early bird gets the worm.” Being an early bird is a necessity. Being late is a tragedy.

If you plan on not having all the success you can and living up to your full potential then you could be late all you want.

But if you’re looking for success in life and business, you must be 100% on time, early if possible.

So I think it’s an extremely valuable point to bring up now. And almost feel like I have said all there is to say about being late, but I do realize that I have not given you any helpful tips on how not to be late.

For some of you, these will be some of the toughest changes you will have to make. They are behavioral changes.

Let’s start with your alarm clock waking you up in the morning. As soon as you get home, you need to go to that alarm and set it for at least a half hour earlier than where it is right now, if not an hour earlier.

Your sleep is not gonna suffer that much by doing that. But it will put you ahead of the game for the day and you will find yourself being late a lot less.

Next, try to have some of the things you do in the morning, already done from the night before.

I know there’s somethings you must do when you wake up, like feed the dog.

But whatever you can do prior, have it ready so it shortens your time spent running around at home in the morning.

If you think you’re running low on gas make sure you have that taken care of the day before.

There are apps for everything these days including checking traffic and checking weather which are things that could easily slow you down.

Remember the person waiting for you, is thinking only one thing, that they are not important enough to you for you to be on time for and show them the respect they deserve.

And believe me, the last person in the world that I would ever wanna do business with or even hire as an associate will be the person who disrespects me and my time.

I find that for people, it is so easy to use traffic or weather as an excuse to be late.

Well I have news for you. We all run into traffic we all run into bad weather and we all know how to work around it. It is no big surprise to anyone.

And yes, if you were wondering why I chose this topic, it is because I am currently sitting here waiting for someone who is already 40 minutes late.

And That is your five minute Monday
