How do I feel about the real estate industry today.

—————————————————

Are you wondering how I feel about the real estate industry today after over 30 years in it. Stick around and I’ll tell you how I feel.

—————————————————

Real estate is a very unique industry. It’s not for everyone. But I do believe that if you have a passion for it and would like to help people and make a difference in their lives,  it could be right up your alley.

Real estate is not a get rich quick scheme. It’s a career.  A career that will take time to build and succeed. Does that mean it’s gonna take forever to make money, absolutely not. If you work hard, you can make your first deal with him 45 to 60 days.

Is there commitment, definitely. Not only do you have to be committed, you’re gonna have to do everything right and get rid of any excuses or procrastination that you have.

This might all sound difficult, I’m here to tell you it’s not, or at least it doesn’t have to be. You can’t be lazy you must have the desire, be motivated and driven.

If you’ve listen to previous episodes you’ve heard me say that many times, as a matter of fact I have a particular episode on that alone. But that’s because it’s so true. These are the traits you must have to succeed in real estate.

You can’t worry about competition, because as I like to say, there is no competition in real estate. Because there’s no one out there that is you. You are a unique individual, people are going to be attracted to you and want to do business with you for a reason.  There will be a chemistry there.

Are you wondering if there’s too many agents in the industry already. No of course not. It may seem that way. But keep in mind, there are dozens and dozens of different niches and not everyone is active in the industry or even successful in the industry. There’s plenty of business for everyone.

You cannot try to reinvent the wheel. You will find that the larger franchise companies that you may join, have a good basic core training program in place that will get you started in the industry. You cannot try to fight that.

You cannot buck the system. You cannot try to pick and choose what parts of the training you like and don’t like and do only that. You must do the tried and true proven things that I’ve been use for years that make people successful.

Don’t worry, we’re not taxi drivers anymore,  just driving people around and showing them properties. Our technology has come so far that by the time we get up and out to show people a property chances are it’s the right property and we’re going to get an offer in as quickly as possible.

Some people enjoy showing properties all day long on a Saturday and Sunday, and there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s what you want to do. But today, people do their research before they even contact you.

By the time they get in touch with you, whether through an email or a phone call, they’ve already been searching, maybe on your website or through realtor.com and they have a pretty good idea of what they’re looking for. You will then get their information, find out their true criteria and fine tune their search.

It is important for you to take control of the situation. If you let them control you and your time, they could easily be like a kid in the candy store and have you showing them properties for months before they make a decision. You need to listen to their needs very carefully and make sure you really show them properties that you know they would love.

Over the years I have found that if I show clients properties that not only fit their  criteria but that I absolutely love and would love to buy myself, it is usually the  property we put an offer in on.

You must remember to always put your clients needs and best interest above yours.  You can’t make it all about the money, but if you always do the right thing, the money will come.

After this many years in this industry, my opinion overall may be a little different than most.  After four housing crisis’, inflations, recessions and crazy high interests rates, I have found that there is always ways to make money and be successful in the real estate industry.

As long as you flow with the changes and stay very in-tune to the economy and what the market does, you will succeed.

And that is your five minute Monday.

Have a great day
